Italy – Bergamo and Milan

Parents trip! Holly and Emma spent the week at the boarding house while we flew to Italy.  We landed with no itinerary, just a place to stay for the first two nights, tickets to see the Last Supper in Milan, a rental car and Google Maps.

RyanAir flight to Milan got us to Bergamo, Italy.  Never assume Ryanair is taking you to the city it states on your ticket. Bergamo is an hour outside of Milan. (Same thing happened in Paris. It’s an hour bus ride and €17 each just to get to Paris.)  Lucky us, we loved Bergamo!

Another view from our room.             The traditional pasta dish of Bergamo called, casoncelli.  I can’t wait to make it!

Milan Cathedral. The 5th largest church in the world and the 2nd largest church in Italy.  Fantastic example of gothic architecture that took nearly six centuries to complete.

We booked tickets to see the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci couple months in advance. Sorry, no photos inside, just a photo of Santa Maria delle Grazie.  This was a lifelong dream for me to see this special work of art by Da Vinci.
